Altopiano di AsiagoOctober 1st - 2nd

You can find much more about the concept, the program and the reason why we created the event below, but to keep it short. We will meet up on the Altopiano di Asiago (Hotel Col del Sole, Roana) to ride on the trails of the First World War. Not a competition, three different routes to choose between. You will have a road book to read about the history of the places you’re crossing with your bike. Then, we will all get back together by evening for a festival (Casa Sant'Antonio, Asiago) to celebrate and have fun. Dinner, drinks, concert and DJ set. We sleep in a tent (but we have options to give you a room if you need one), we have breakfast and we all ride together the second day, back to the start. All included in the fee. Get there and only worry about exploring and getting to knowthe place, have fun and meet awesome people. And build long lasting memories.

Memory - /ˈmɛm(ə)ri/ The psychological processes of acquiring, storing, retaining, and later retrieving information. To remember, we need to know first - make an experience firsthand. Then we need this information paired with strong emotions - good or bad ones. The stronger they are, the better chance we recall them often and later in time. There are things worth remembering. Sometimes it’s clear what these things are, sometimes we lose the opportunity to impress great things upon our memory just because we take them for granted. For example, we can just ride a bike or do that to understand and discover a place too - to build consciousness of why a place is as it is while we’re having fun. The result? Impress a place and its history upon our memory forever.

Our playground We’re lucky enough to live in an awesome area to ride bikes. We’ve got roads and trails, climbs and flats, straight lines and nice bends. On top of that, we’ve got incredible military roads.  What is our fortune today is the heritage of sad events taking place in this very area more than one hundred years ago. We live on the territory where some of the fiercest front lines of the First World War were. Places like Altopiano di Asiago, Monte Grappa, Pasubio and Piave river have been the theater of years of fights and long waits in trenches.

And so what? We want to share our home trails and the incredible history of these places with many. They’re awesome to ride and interesting to explore. We also believe it’s important to keep their memory alive and to know their story. We strongly believe commemorating and remembering doesn’t need to involve sad celebrations. On the contrary, pairing them with a bit of struggle on the bike and a lot of fun on and off it will create the strongest memory ever.  That’s why the Memory Bike Festival was born.

The itinerariesWe propose three itineraries. Each will take you to landmarks and highlights of the First World War. We will provide you with a road book explaining the route and the places you’re visiting during your ride.  You can also design your own route if you like. Important thing: start from the start and get to Festival Camp before dinner time. Not many constraints from our side of course.

Cengio and Vezzena route km: 96D+: 2.7K mtBike: hardtail / gravel 650B A challenging route with some hike-a-bike (2-3km in total) included to discover two of the most iconic places of the Front. Monte Cengio’s galleries overhanging the Veneto flatlands and the Austro-Ungaric Forte Vezzena dominating the valleys of Trentino.

Verena loop km: 80D+: 2.2K mtBike: gravel 650B / 700C A gravel loop around Monte Verena with a challenging climb up to the top. It’s a hike for the last few hundred meters but it’s worth it to visit the Italian Forte on top. You can still skip it if you don’t feel like walking - but we recommend doing it!

Leiten Memorial ride km: 54D+: 1.2K mtBike: gravel 700C An easy ride on the old railway through the galleries to get to Asiago and ride past one of the biggest and most important Memorials of the War before reaching the area of the Festival.

The festival The Festival will be hosted on the grass in front of Casa Sant’Antonio, on the hills among the city of Asiago. You can leave your bags at the start and we will take them there - no need to carry everything on the bike for once. And when you get there, you can have a warm shower. How cool? You can pitch your tent and enjoy the festival. Have your drinks, play some games, listen to music while eating, and sit by the bonfire. The situation will heat up a bit with the DJ set, of course. It’s gonna be a super chill and relaxed situation and we’re pretty sure if you know us already you can trust we can put a nice situation together and have tons of fun. We won’t need much, but rest assured it’s gonna be enough. The festival is going to be outdoors at 1200 ASL - make sure you’ve got the right clothes and sleeping system!

Any questions?

The event will start on Saturday, October 1st and end the following day at lunch time / afternoon.

The event will be entirely hosted on the Altopiano di Asiago. The meeting point and start of the routes is Hotel Col Del Sole, Tresché Conca, while the Festival (dinner, evening, night and breakfast) will be at Casa Sant’Antonio, Asiago. Address of the start: Hotel Col del Sole, Via Chiesa, 52, 36010 Roana VI Address of the festival: Casa Sant’Antonio, Via Val Giardini, 151, 36012 Asiago VI

You can register at Hotel Col Del Sole from 8AM to 11AM and start the route you choose when you want. If you choose the “Cengio and Vezzena route” we suggest you start no later than 9AM to get to the Festival in time to enjoy the party.

Yes, you will need a note from your doctor stating your fit for cycling activities. We will also ask you to sign a liability waiver when you register.

An awesome hotel is hosting the start. If you want to sleep there on Friday evening, you can book by sending an email directly to info@coldelsole.it. In any case, there are plenty of parking slots both at the hotel and nearby.

The routes are awesome and that’s the easy part of the answer. They can all be ridden with a gravel bike or any other kind of off-road bike.

To be more specific, the “Cengio and Vezzena route” is challenging in terms of terrain and elevation and we would suggest either a Hardtail MTB or a Gravel Bike with 650b wheels and at least 45mm tyres – the choice depending on your skills, experience and preferences. Be aware that some sections of hike-a-bike are included in the loop – mainly to take you to the highlights and points of interest we would love you to visit.

The “Verena loop” is slightly easier in terms of terrain but involves a lot of climbing too. Nothing to worry about – just take your time and be ready to spend a few hours on the bike. We would use a Gravel Bike with 650b wheels but we rode this also with 700×40. Again, it’s your choice and if you want to be comfortable and ride a Hardtail no one will blame you!
There’s a detour in the loop – 3 km to get up to Forte Verena. It’s the highlight of the route and requires some walking to reach the top: we strongly recommend you to do it but if you’re tired or you don’t want to walk you can easily continue without riding the detour.

The “Leiten Memorial Ride” is suitable for anyone who wants to join the event. It doesn’t involve much elevation and the terrain is always easy to ride. A gravel bike with 700x35mm tyres is enough. It could easily be a first gravel experience in a mountain environment for someone. If you’re wondering whether you have the skills and preparation to do it – you do!

Hell no, it’s a ride. We suggest three routes and provide you a road book for those. Nevertheless, you can even decide to reach the Festival Camp with your own route if you like.

The only mandatory item is a helmet. Then, you know you need to be self-sufficient and ready for possible issues. We suggest you bring, at very least: one spare tube, a pump, a multi tool and tyre levers.

Should I bring everything with me on the bike? No, we have a shuttle service running from the start to the Festival camp. You can leave your luggage before 11AM and you will find it at the Camp by 4PM at the latest. So no need to bring tents, sleeping bags and casual clothes with you during the ride.

Some good vibes first, but if we talk about items you need to be ready to spend evening and night outdoors at 1200 mt ASL. We would suggest long pants and a down jacket at least. If you opt for the tent, a suitable sleeping system is required: tent (of course) and sleeping bag with at least 10 °C comfort temperature. Then it’s up to you and your experience of course.

Yes, the festival will be hosted outside Casa Sant’Antonio, a summer house with 30 double rooms we can book. To book a bed, you can select the option during your registration. You can let us know if you have a preferred person to share the room with via email (info@enoughcycling.cc)

Pretty much everything you can think of. The routes and the road book, the luggage transportation, dinner, three drinks (beer or cocktails), a place for the night (tent or room), breakfast.

Awesome local food, including cheese and salumi from the Altopiano, polenta and pasta. We won’t have a formal dinner of course, you will have access to a buffet, get the food you like and will be free to sit wherever, chat with people, eat in groups. Whatever.

If you have any food intolerance or preference please let us know in advance.

You will be able to get more drinks directly from our bar during the evening. Fair prices, we promise.

We will wake up and have breakfast, give you time to pack your stuff and tents. We will take care of the transportation of the luggage back to the start of course. When we’re ready we will leave, ideally all together. We would like to keep the group together until Forte Interrotto for a small break. Then, you can decide to get directly back to the start with us or ride a bigger loop and keep exploring the Altopiano – we can provide routes for that. Once we’re back to Hotel Col del Sole we can have a few beers together and kiss a goodbye to the next edition of the Festival.

Unless extreme weather forecasts, the event will take place anyway in a slightly different format. We have a big hotel/house available and we will have the chance to move inside the building: it will be a bit “punk” – if you know what we mean – but we’re pretty sure it’s gonna be super fun anyway. Unless you hear something different from us, the event is confirmed regardless of the weather.

Will I be refunded? Yes, we can refund your ticket – Eventbrite booking fee excluded – until September 23rd.
