About

The Memory Bike Adventure is a 720 km long route which links several landmarks and key places along the front between Austria and Italy from 1916 to 1918 before finishing at the Festival Camp.  It is an unsupported, single-stage, fixed-route event. The route starts in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza) and finishes in Asiago after crossing breathtaking and historically relevant areas like Fiume Piave, Monte Grappa and Monte Pasubio.  The Memory Bike Adventure is part of Memory Bike and completes the experience of the Memory Festival.  The aim of the event is to share the locations and increase awareness  around the events of World War I in Northern Italy, especially in Veneto, through cycling.

The Memory Bike Adventure is the "ultra-distance" challenge of the Memory Bike. The event is completed by the Memory Bike Festival, a social gathering on the Altopiano di Asiago. The Festival will include different routes (including very easy ones), live music and talks. If you are looking for a fun and social experience, better check the link below!

The Route

You will ride on military roads, you will spot memorials and monuments and you will find yourself riding and pushing your bike in actual trenches. It is a one-of-a-kind experience you will hardly forget. We tried to design a route which tests all the skills an adventure racer should have in a medium-long event, with the idea of finding the most well rounded rider  through an entertaining and engaging event, not too long and not too boring to watch and follow, even from home.

Any questions?

The Adventure starts in Bassano del Grappa in the evening of Tuesday July 11th and the finish will be on Altopiano di Asiago. Cut-off time Sunday July 16th, 8PM.

Of course! We encourage riders to stay at the Festival. We believe most of the riders will complete the Adventure between Friday and Saturday. You can spend time at the camp with the community that will be there ready to hear your stories from the trails. More info on the Festival soon.

You simply fill out the form you can access through the link on this page. Once we receive your application, we will shortly review it and get back to you with our feedback.

There are a couple of questions regarding your Cycling adventure and outdoor experiences in the application. We won’t be excluding new comers or riders based on their experience – we rather want to make sure that anyone signing up knows what she or he is up for. We might ask a few more questions before accepting an application to get to know the riders better and make sure we can provide everyone with the right information and support to prepare for the MBA.

You will receive our feedback within 10 days from your application. It will include details for payment. After that, welcome to the MBA!

The Memory Bike Adventure is a off-road, single-stage, self-supported and fixed route adventure. You will be provided with a gpx route to follow from the start to the finish to complete the Adventure. You can read everything you need to know in the Adventure Manual.

You can see the provisional route on Komoot. It’s not the final gpx file, as we will need to re-scout the full course after winter. You can still consider it very close to the final route to start and plan your Adventure and riding strategy.

By Plane, the closest airports are Marco Polo in Venice and Antonio Canova in treviso. Different airlines, including low cost options, provide the service to and from those airports.

From the airport, trains and shuttles are easy options to get to the city in less than 2 hours.

The train station is in the city center and trains run regularly and often from Venice, Trento and Padova.

If you prefer to reach Bassano by car it’s of course possible. We will provide information on long-stay parking available.

Buses run every hour from Asiago to Bassano, taking you back to the city center. We will provide all the information you will need for that.

Yes you do. Please read the Adventure manual for further information.

The event is organized by Enough Cycling Collective.
